This concert will be performed twice, once at 5pm and once at 7pm. A fitting concert for it's 16th century venue, this concert features gold-strung cl??irseachs played by Ann Heymann accompanying 7th-18th century Gaelic poems (including genres of laoi, rosc and amhran) sung by Charlie Heymann. For contrast, early Welsh poetry by the famous poets Aneirin and Taliesin, will be performed, accompanied by horsehair harp, crwth and various lyres. Simon O'Dwyer of Ancient Music Ireland will add to the atmosphere with his reproduction Irish horns. To put the music in a European context, the renaissance bray harp will also be featured.
