Hameln Anno 1284
Performer: Norbert Rodenkirchen
Event Date: Fri, 9 May 2014
Venue: Chapel of the Poor Clares, Nuns Island
This program is based on an artistic research project on the myth and on the real events behind the story of the so called Rattenfaenger, or rat catcher, of Hameln, known to most of us as The Pied Piper of Hameln. In a magical hour of music, history and legend, historical flautist Norbert Rodenkirchen plays the music of composers from the time and place of the historical event which led to the legend of the Pied Piper of Hameln, using readings to explore the myth and the reality of the story. The programme was comissioned by the WDR radio and released as a CD in 2012.
